NetSuite and Rillet are both cloud enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems with a general ledger, subscription billing, ASC 606 revenue recognition, multi-entity consolidation, SaaS metrics and AI built into the finance workflow.
NetSuite is a mature, general-purpose ERP that teams extend through SuiteCloud and SuiteApps, while Rillet says it built an AI-native ledger that processes transactions continuously. NetSuite also ships its own AI, including Ask Oracle and an AI Connector Service built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP).
NetSuite also covers customer relationship management (CRM), procurement, project accounting, inventory and supply chain on one platform and has more than 44,000 customers, while Rillet concentrates on accounting and billing and has 600+ finance teams. That gives NetSuite the broader footprint and Rillet the newer, narrower product.
Questions to ask before choosing NetSuite versus Rillet
Whether you’re meeting with the vendors or researching online, consider these questions as you compare NetSuite and Rillet for your ERP:
- Which of my requirements are supported today? Test specifics such as multibook accounting, project accounting, local tax compliance and consolidated invoicing. Each vendor’s marketing says the other falls short, so ask for documentation or a demo.
- Can I see the full SOC 1 and SOC 2 reports? They show whether controls over your financial data were tested over time. Check the auditor’s opinion, any exceptions and the dates covered.
- What does implementation include? Ask who owns data migration, what’s in the quoted timeline and which customers your size you can speak to. References are the best check on vendor-reported timelines.
- What does the AI do, and who approves it? Find out whether it answers questions or changes records, and whether you get an audit trail and role-based permissions.
- Will it hold up if we plan to go public or be acquired? Investors, buyers and auditors will review your books, so ask how the system handles audit trails, access controls and consolidation as entities and transaction volume grow. NetSuite and Rillet each cite public-company customers, so ask for specifics and references.
