NetSuite made its biggest AI move yet at SuiteWorld 2026. It announced more than 45 SuiteSkills, AI Workspaces including Autonomous Close, AI Portlets and new industry-specific agents. NetSuite’s AI Connector Service also keeps the door open to bring your own model, so finance teams can use tools like Claude or ChatGPT on their centralized NetSuite data. Together they point to one bet: AI belongs inside the enterprise resource planning (ERP) platform, grounded in business data and governed by business controls.

We agree with that bet. Zone has built every product inside NetSuite from day one, across quote to cash, procure to pay, record to report and treasury. The #1 AI Cloud ERP is the proven vendor to consolidate financial and operational processes. Our products extend those financial processes to more multi-subsidiary requirements, simplifying more multi-region complexity, and using AI to put more control into the hands of finance teams – transforming the system of record to a system of agency.

SuiteWorld 2026 moved agentic AI into the core of the ERP. Here’s what that means for finance teams, where specialist AI fits and what to do this quarter.

More AI features don’t equal better results

AI tools are getting better, connecting them to ERP data is getting easier and the industry is experiencing the infrastructure that allows AI agents to take action directly in NetSuite. But what matters to finance teams is whether that AI actually improves the way they work.

Controllers don’t need another flashy list of features – they need agentic finance tools in NetSuite that are trustworthy, explainable, safe and repeatable. Finance teams should consider the gap between what an AI model claims it does and the actual results it produces.

Closing that gap means the AI tool takes knowledge of the specific financial process, the records behind it, the exceptions that matter and the controls around who can do what and applies it to every action taken in NetSuite.

General AI and specialist AI each have a job

General-purpose AI – such as Claude or ChatGPT – are built for broad uses like analyzing information and drafting reports. On the other hand, specialist AI is designed  for specific workflows and processes, with built-in knowledge of data and permissions.

NetSuite clients suggest that finance teams shouldn’t pick one AI tool to complete work, but that they should use several. Here’s a practical way to divide the work among AI tools:

If you need to… Use Why
Find a record, run a report or learn how to do something in NetSuite Ask Oracle and NetSuite’s built-in AI Knows NetSuite navigation and core records and works inside your permissions
Build a model, draft a board narrative or combine NetSuite data with other sources Claude or ChatGPT via the NetSuite AI Connector Service Strongest for broad, flexible analysis. Your team manages prompts, roles and cost
Investigate billing gaps, AP approvals, vendor bills or reconciliation exceptions in Zone products Zoe AI Agents in Zone Control Center Built for Zone’s records, workflow logic, and analysis. Shows its work in SuiteQL

The biggest difference in how these tools operate is in how much context it has.  For example, a general-purpose model connected to NetSuite sees what your role allows, but it has to work out on the fly what a ZoneBilling subscription or billing schedule means, and two users with two prompts can get two different answers. Specialist agents are more efficient and controlled because they start with context built in.

We’ve seen this in our AI pilot programs, too. One customer’s Claude prompt went rogue and cost more than $50, while Zoe by Zone found the answer and kept costs at $0.

NetSuite’s new SuiteAgents cover industry context. Zone takes the next step with specialist agents for finance jobs – subscription billing, accounts payable (AP) and cash reconciliation – that operate within the workflows finance teams spend their days.

What specialist AI looks like in practice

We use Zoe by Zone AI Agents on our own books first. Our revenue accountant used to investigate billing exceptions by downloading large datasets, filtering them in Excel and reviewing the results line by line. Now he runs a Zoe Subscription Intelligence Agent prompt he has tested against his old process, and it returns the same validated answer every month.

Our AP team uses Zoe AP Intelligence Agent for vendor invoice status, aging and payment-term questions. Accountants save up to an hour on each ad hoc request. They also hand recurring reports, including GRNI, to Zoe instead of assembling and exporting the data by hand.

Customers are seeing the same pattern. A System Admin at a healthcare billing company asked Zoe which live subscriptions had never generated a sales order – a question their implementation partner hadn’t answered in months. Zoe returned 98 in a single prompt. Another customer described a subscription investigation that would have taken hours by hand and took about five minutes.

As of October 22, 2026, 225+ users across 130+ customer accounts had engaged with Zoe. Investigation is where AI earns trust. Action is where it earns its keep.

Trust is essential when AI moves from answers to actions in the ERP

The next stage of agentic finance in NetSuite moves beyond investigation into execution. That makes the design of an agent as important as its capabilities. Before you let any AI touch your books – NetSuite’s, a general-purpose model’s or ours – we suggest four questions:

  1. Does it know your NetSuite and your workflow? Zone’s AI agents work inside NetSuite, with access to your ERP data, accounting logic and chart of accounts.
  2. Can you check its work? Every Zoe answer shows the SuiteQL behind it and exports for review, so your team can review the data behind the result rather than simply trusting what the AI tells them.
  3. Does it follow your rules? Zoe operates within your existing NetSuite role permissions and accounting rules, so AI actions remain subject to the controls you've already established.
  4. Where does your data go? Zoe is designed around regional data sovereignty, processing your AI data within the appropriate boundaries.

If a tool can’t answer all four clearly, keep it on read-only work until it can.

What to do in Q4 2026 when implementing AI

  1. Take stock of your AI options. Check whether NetSuite Next and Ask Oracle are live in your region and account. As of this writing, Zone AI agents are included for all users in all regions – including EMEA – who have a ZoneBilling, ZoneCapture, or ZoneReconcile subscription.
  2. Identify and test AI for common use cases. Examples include vendor bill coding errors, subscriptions without sales orders and invoices stuck in approval. Then set up your AI with permissions, governance,  and context – or use Zone’s ready-to-run agents with those elements built in – and run it. Test against your saved search, tweak as needed, and save it for your next run.
  3. Set up general-purpose AI like any other integration. If you connect Claude or ChatGPT, consider using a scoped role and shared prompts so every user gets the same answer.
  4. Decide where approval and audits happen before agents write. Determine the actions that need human sign-off before you turn on any agent that can change a record. And make a plan for audits, too. Zone’s AI agents log every action in the NetSuite audit trail; be sure your AI tools keep an auditable record as well.

For NetSuite partners, the same four steps make a strong AI readiness conversation with every client this quarter.

What’s next: AI that takes action, with people in control

Zoe AI Agents help finance teams investigate subscription billing, AP and cash reconciliation directly inside NetSuite.

Next is Zone AgentHQ, your control center for agents that write to NetSuite. Finance teams will schedule agents to perform defined tasks, review their work and approve every action before it posts. We’re working with pilot customers now.

NetSuite is building the foundation. Zone is bringing deep finance workflow expertise to it. So here’s the question to take into your next close: which investigation could your team hand to AI this month, and who will check the first answer?

Finance with Agency. Built for NetSuite.

Zone & Co strategically uses AI to research and draft articles, but the final version is shaped by people. Our team carefully reviews content with multiple human-in-the-loop steps in the process to ensure accuracy, relevance, tone and alignment with readers' interests.
